In his recent role as manager of transportation demand management at TransLink, the Metro Vancouver transportation authority, Adrian was responsible for demand management policy and prepared strategic advice on shared, connected and automated vehicles. Born in England, Adrian was previously Head of Mobility Management at Transport for London where he had responsibility for behaviour change initiatives to encourage and enable walking and cycling in the UK capital. A chartered member of the UK Institute of Logistics and Transportation, he holds a master’s degree in Transportation Planning and a degree in Civil Engineering.

Michael previously held the position of Managing Director, Macquarie Capital Funds Canada, following his roles as Assistant Vice President with Brookfield Financial Real Estate Group and Partner with RBC Capital Partners’ Mezzanine Fund. While at Macquarie, Michael was on the Board of Directors of six toll roads, including 407 International where he continues to provide oversight as a Director and Chair of its shareholders’ Executive Committee. He was also on the Board of Haltern Ports and AltaLink Transmission Management. Michael is a CFA charterholder and earned Masters of Business Administration and undergraduate degrees from the University of Ottawa with a focus on Public Policy and Public Management.

Ginger Goodin, Texas A&M Transportation InstituteGinger Goodin is a Senior Research Engineer in TTI's Austin Office, where she has spearheaded leading-edge research and supported the practical application of innovative strategies with Central Texas transportation agencies since 1996. She serves as TTI's Director of the Transportation Policy Research Center, supporting the Texas State Legislature with objective, data-driven transportation policy research in the areas of finance, freight, congestion, public engagement and technology. Ginger has 30 years of broad experience in all areas of roadway planning, development, maintenance and operations and has led diverse research for TTI on the forefront of emerging topics, including congestion pricing, managed lanes and mileage-based user fees. She is also a frequent speaker and recognized thought leader on the subject of state and local public policy implications of automated and connected vehicles. Ginger is a member of USDOT's Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Program Advisory Committee, and the Transportation Research Board's Vehicle-Highway Automation Committee. She attended Texas A&M University, receiving her bachelor of science in civil engineering and masters of engineering in civil engineering. Ginger is a registered professional engineer in Texas and is a member of the Leadership Texas Class of 2010.

Brendon Hemily - Hemily and Associates Transit ConsultantsDr. Hemily is an independent consultant with 35 years of experience of working with the public transportation industry in both the U.S. and Canada, specializing in planning, management, and technology issues. Dr. Hemily has special expertise and knowledge regarding North American experience with ITS in public transportation, innovative transit service concepts, and transit performance and service quality.  A special focus has been on identifying and articulating best practices related to the effective and strategic use of technology, the uses of ITS data for transit planning and management, and key questions for transit agencies related to shared use mobility. Prior to 2000, he worked 15 years for the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA), serving since 1992 as CUTA’s Manager of Research and Technical Services, where he was responsible for all technical activities, including the National statistics and research programs. Working closely with a wide range of transit systems, his responsibilities included managing CUTA’s Strategic Transit Research Program, which pursued best practices applied research on a wide range of management, planning, and technology issues. Dr. Hemily has a Ph.D. and MsCE both from M.I.T., and a B.A. in Economics from Columbia University. He is actively involved in various associations including, the American Public Transportation Association, CUTA, ITS America, ITS Canada, and the Transportation Research Board (TRB), where he chaired, and is now Emeritus Member of TRB's Committee on Public Transportation Planning and Development. As a result of his various areas of endeavor, he has extensive personal contacts in the field of urban transit, among both the research and practitioner community, in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, which provides a broad perspective on research and innovative practices in the urban transit field.

David King, Arizona State University, Tempeh, Arizona, USA

David King, Arizona State UniversityDavid King is an Assistant Professor of Urban Planning at Arizona State University's School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning. His research explores the impact of local transportation planning on the built environment, public finance and accessibility. As part of this research David has written about the phenomenon of cruising for parking and used spatial regression techniques to analyze travel behavior. He also studies how public policy influences the adoption of new technologies to address congestion, energy and environmental concerns. These issues are the focus of David’s teaching through his courses covering planning techniques and methods, transportation and land use planning and transport policy. Prior to joining Arizona State University, David taught planning at Columbia University from 2008 to 2016. He did his graduate work at UCLA and the Humphrey Institute at the University of Minnesota.

Albert Koehl, Environmental LawyerAlbert Koehl is an environmental lawyer and adjunct professor with a diverse background and perspective on transportation issues. He has worked for the Ontario Ministry of Environment's Legal Services Branch (1990-1996) and with Ecojustice, a non-profit environmental law organization (2001-2014), where he focused on issues of climate change, energy, and transportation. He is the author of an online advocate's guide, Road Follies. His current community and legal work centres on cycling and pedestrian safety, including the City of Toronto’s newly installed Bloor Bike Lane pilot project. Albert served as an expert on the Ontario Chief Coroner’s pedestrian safety review in 2012. An author of transportation articles published in The Globe and Mail, Toronto Star and other Canadian media, Albert is currently writing a book on sustainable transportation. He holds a law degree from Queen's University and a political economy degree from University of Toronto.

Since 1996, Paul has been a contributing author to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the world's leading forum for the study of climate issues. The Panel won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change. He is Canada's leading authority on insurance and climate extremes, and has been a contributing author to numerous international and Canadian reports on reducing the risk of loss from earthquakes, flooding and severe wind. For more than thirty-five years Paul has been a popular commentator on insurance, disaster safety and economic policy. He has written more than 200 publications and articles and he is a passionate champion for insurance, disaster resilience and adaptation to climate extremes. Paul has worked in private industry, the public sector and academia. He is Co-Chair of the Infrastructure and Housing Working Group of Canada's Adaptation Platform and Co-Chair of the Science and Technology Working Group of Canada's Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction.

He is the founder of AutoShare (1998), Toronto's original carsharing service (sold to Enterprise CarShare in 2014), and a co-founder of Vancouver's Modo - the Car Co-op (1997) and Evergreen (1991) a registered charity connecting people with nature, and well known in Toronto for the Evergreen Brickworks. Kevin graduated from Queen's University in Commerce and is on the board of Carrot, Mexico's first carshare, and Sojourn Labs.

Mr. Porciello has over 20 years’ experience in embedded systems, automation, and communication systems. Prior to joining TrustPoint, he has held senior commercial and technical roles at RuggedCom, General Electric and several early stage technology companies. Mr. Porciello holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a joint MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management and Schulich School of Business, and is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. His interests lie in technology product strategy, new product introductions, and helping to bring impactful innovation to market.

Thomas Powers, University of Delaware, Newark, Delaware, USA

Tom Powers, University of DelawareThomas Powers is the founding director of the Center for Science, Ethics, and Public Policy at the University of Delaware. He holds appointments as Associate Professor in the Philosophy Department and the Delaware Biotechnology Institute. Thomas's research concerns ethics in science and engineering, the philosophy of technology, and environmental ethics, and his publications range from topics in artificial intelligence and robotic ethics to the ethical aspects of design. He received a B.A. in philosophy (College of William and Mary) and a Ph.D. in philosophy (University of Texas at Austin). Thomas has been a DAAD-Fulbright dissertation-year fellow at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, a National Science Foundation fellow in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia, and a visiting researcher (2015) at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Laboratoire d'Informatique – Équipe: Agents Cognitifs et Apprentissage Symbolique Automatique.

Stephen Rhodes was appointed Deputy Minister of Transportation on February 27, 2016. As Deputy Minister of Correctional Services from 2012-2016, he led the implementation of one of the most progressive admission and placement policies for trans-inmates in North America. Previously, as the first Associate Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Attorney General, he provided leadership on the Justice Target Initiative to help reduce criminal court delay. Prior to his appointment as Associate Deputy Minister, Stephen served for seven years as the ministry’s CAO and Assistant Deputy Attorney General. His leadership efforts as CAO were widely recognized by his colleagues and was elected as Chair of the Chief Administrative Officers’ Forum in 2008. Stephen holds a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Toronto, an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Geography from Wilfrid Laurier University and is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey School of Business Executive Development Program.
