George Smitherman, the man everyone keeps treating as the front-runner in the race to be Toronto’s next mayor, stopped by the National Post for a chat with the editorial board on Tuesday. Covering a range of topics, using his trademark colourful language, Mr. Smitherman sought to position himself as the candidate who meets Toronto’s various needs. From consensus builder to politician with the “backbone that it takes to get people operating within available resources,” he insists the city needs to do less, but do it well. The Post spells out the candidate’s position on a variety of issues.
